The BU-20 Bluetooth adapter is a USB dongle that simply plugs into some models of PIXMA and SELPHY printers (in the 2H 2005 range) to enable them to receive print tasks wirelessly from Bluetooth devices. Adding a Bluetooth accessory to a printer is becoming more common as the number of Bluetooth enabled devices in the market continues to grow. Typical consumers would print photos from Bluetooth PDA’s and camera phones and print documents and photos from a PC. BU-20 connects simply to the PictBridge port but is only compatible with the specified CANON devices. It is quite common for Bluetooth USB dongle to be locked to one brand with HP and Epson already selling similar solutions for their printers. As you might expect the device must be unplugged again before a digital camera can use the PictBridge port. Bluetooth is supported on all photo direct (PD) printers this year and some MFP’s & SELPHY models. - Configurable directly using the printer’s LCD display (when no PC is connected). Can also be configured from a connected PC when an HCRP Bluetooth connection is being used. Compatible only with Canon printers (other 3rd Bluetooth adaptors do not connect the same way).
